Dora and her mother, Mrs. Benley, the wife of the Pittsburgh Robber Baron, wore feathers in their hats. And yes, they always wore a hat. They wouldn’t have felt dressed without the proper one for each occasion. No lady one hundred years ago would appear in public without gloves. On many occasions they wore mother of pearl beads.
